MLRA Adopts New Policy for "Drones"
Posted on Dec 6th, 2016
The subject of UAS/Drones is a hot topic in many communities—and the development of policies are somewhat of a moving target due to the currently evolving FAA and state/county government regulations which continue to shift in an attempt to fairly address the concerns of communities with those of commercial and recreational UAS/Drone users. At the federal level, the FAA has recently adopted guidelines which the MLRA has used as the basis for its policy. The MLRA is also tracking various bills that have been weaving their way through the Hawaii State Legislature for the past few years and will continue to do so.
Please note that MLRA policy pertains to the use of UAS/Drones within the Common Areas of the Mauna Lani Resort Association. We highly recommend that all residential subassociations adopt policies/house rules to manage the use of UAS/Drones within your private communities as well.
